31 Days to the Morrigan started back a few years ago when I was looking for a simple, but effective way to connect to The Morrigan and her aspects. I sat down and just thought of words that were commonly associated with her, from lore to modern gnosis (both personal and shared). I’ve kept the tradition up for a few years, only having to skip a few for personal (and instructed) reasons.
1. Land
2. Sea
3. Sky
4. Terrible
5. Rosc (poetry)
6. Nine loosened tresses
7. Battle Scars
8. Cauldron

12. Sovereignty
13. Red-Mouth
14. The Washing Woman

This year’s 31 Days is a blend of past and present lists- a few things She was very keen on my keeping in, and a few she wanted out for something she wanted. Certain words jumped at me, many from her lore (translated, of course.)
Day 1 Land
I start again with Land, Sea and Sky because these are, of course, the three realms. If I had thought better of it, I would’ve put the order Sky, Sea, Land to attune with Nikki’s Land, Sea, Sky attunement. However, this works too- the next three days will be using that attunement- 3 times each day, for a total of 9.
Land is our realm- this is where we are in the spiritual realms. It is the physical and the tangible. It is one of the sources of nature- that where we begin. Our ancestors lived off the land, understood it in many ways. My own personal belief says they understood the balance of living off the land, respecting it and a healthy fear of it. They had to watch nature for signs of incoming storms and troubles, the seasons so they were stocked for winter, and the signs that the growing season could begin, and end.
Land is life- and I don’t mean in that way of those that own land are of more importance, but in that way that Land produces most of our food and resources. We live off the land that we upon, as do animals. It is the source of our lives and our strife. How many of our wars are about land, attaining it, stealing it? Those that care for the land, understand the importance of balance, an art, I think, is sometimes forgotten. Cutting down every tree ruins the land, polluting it, destroying it and the life upon it in the name of "advancement." If we keep destroying the land, where will we get our food from? We only have this one planet...

In terms of The Morrigan and the modern, for my personal charge, being more mindful and attentive to the land is a part of our relationship. Caring for the land I live on, as well as tapping into the vast energies of the land. Appreciating the lands I visit. My personal practice involves walking the lands, and being in tune with them. I think this is why I love hiking and camping- I am energized when I go out into nature- the same can be said with gardening. Touching the land, my hands and feet in the soil is literally grounding.
And that's the start to 31 days of The Morrigan...I hope that it leads others to the deepening of their relationships with her, and a deeper development of their spirituality in general. Be sure to follow along on my Instagram.
There is dirt under my fingernails
and sweat on my brow
as the sun beats down
while I tend the land
the soil, rich with life
I give thanks and gratitude
for the abundance of the Earth
Her beauty
and pray that I never feel her wrath
Let me not forget
I do not own the land
I belong to the Land
